Anyway, belated thanks for it and kudos to your superior knowledge. Ashamed that I didn’t Google it before posting. Had I done so, I would have found this, which explains all.

I’m always lurking about out here, Kathy.
I never knew it was the Droop Quota either until I was set the project I wrote of. The lecturer who set it, a Yank, was babbling on about it for ages before I realised what it was.
Perhaps in the early days of the State when the system was being adopted, those in power dropped all references to its being devised by an Englishman and this propagated through our education system. It wouldn’t be the only example of anti-British sentiment to work its way into our school system thus.
Anyway, just a wild guess on your not being able to comment on the original post: Could it be that your settings are such that comments with more than one link (or perhaps comments with any links at all) are rejected? If so, you may find the three comments you posted stuck in the moderation queue.

Interesting theory…I wouldn’t be all that surprised. I certainly don’t remember coming across the term, even in college.
As for the comments issue, I’m not sure what happened. They’re not waiting for moderation, I’m normally able to add a link and I was able to answer other posts. Odd. Thanks anyway, though!
